Through Seeing
Photography allowed me to enter the world through seeing.
After moving from painting to photography, walking became part of the way I see. I gradually came to understand that the world is not a fixed scene waiting to be recorded. As the speed, distance, position, and manner of seeing change, what lies before us reveals itself differently.
Sometimes I wait in stillness; sometimes I move closer to the surface; sometimes familiar forms slip beyond recognition; and sometimes I shift the scale from which I look. Through these experiences, I came to understand photography not simply as a way of preserving what I see, but as a continual re-forming of my relationship with the world.
For me, seeing is not something that precedes the work. It is where the work begins.
