When images enter the form of a book, seeing begins to unfold between pages and through time.
The Platinum Collector’s Handmade Art Book Series brings together photography, platinum-palladium printing, and the physical form of the artist’s book.
Each book is handcrafted, with images individually printed in platinum-palladium on fine art paper. Through the act of turning pages, individual photographs begin to form relationships with one another, while the texture of the paper, tonal depth of the prints, pauses, and open spaces create a rhythm of seeing.
For me, a book is more than a vessel for images. When photography enters the structure of a book, the image begins to exist together with paper, binding, scale, and the time of viewing.
Each handmade artist’s book is produced in a limited edition. From image-making and printing to binding, the process of making becomes part of the formation of the work itself.
The book thus becomes a work in its own right—a photographic form that can be opened, touched, experienced, and preserved through time.
